As with all South Africans, Steven Roets was, and still is a keen hunter, and frequently went on hunting safaris with his father in the Musina area. He fell in love with the Mopane Bushveld, and dreamt of owning a peace of this paradise in the northern part of South Africa.
After many years, he was lucky enough to be able to achieve his dream of owning a slice of bushveld heaven. But as they say, Rome was not built in a day, and the right slice had to be found. After a long search, Steven met Pietie and Annie du Plessis, an elderly couple who was looking to scale down. In 1995, Steven went to visit Boulogne, and although it was rough around the edges, he immediately saw the potential. Over the next 25+ years a lot of blood, sweat and hard work went into making Boulogne the hunting farm it is today.
When Boulogne became part of the Roets family, it was a place to where the family could escape to, and enjoy the tranquility only the bushveld can provide. This is where the children and grand children went on their first hunting safaris, and for the first time experienced the thrill of the hunt. Boulogne is where friendships were cemented, and where the family members chosen to create some of there most memorable moments.
Today the farm is not only for the Roets family, but for anyone to book a safari and create their own memorable moments at this bushveld oasis.
